Bio-Rad Releases Software to Assist in Polymer Infrared Spectral Interpretation

PHILADELPHIA, PA – May 9, 2008 Bio-Rad Laboratories, Inc. (AMEX: BIO and BIOb), a multinational manufacturer and distributor of life science research and clinical diagnostic products, announced today the addition of AnalyzeItâ„¢ Polymer IR to its KnowItAll® Informatics System. This application has been developed to aid researchers in the interpretation of the bands found in an infrared (IR) spectrum of polymeric compounds.

“The analysis of commercial polymers presents many challenges. A key piece of desired information is the spectral-structure correlation information not available from spectral searching alone, said Marie Scandone, Product Manager, Bio-Rad Informatics, “Our new AnalyzeIt Polymer IR software helps customers fill that gap.”

Polymer researchers can use this method of spectral interpretation for:

  • Identification of IR spectra of unknown polymers
  • Classification/pattern characterization of polymers
  • Interpretation of polymers in conjunction with spectral database searching

AnalyzeIt Polymer IR application features over 100 functional groups and hundreds of interpretation frequencies. Additional information on specific features can be accessed at http://www.knowitall.com/analyzeitpolymerir. A demo movie of this software is also available at www.training.knowitall.com.
