Bio-Reference Laboratories, Inc. Named to the 2004 Forbes List of the 200 Best Small Companies

Bio-Reference Laboratories, Inc. (NASDAQ:BRLI) announced today that Forbes Magazine has ranked BRLI #26 in its 2004 annual list of the top 200 Best Small Companies, released in the October 2004 issue of the Forbes magazine.

This is the first year that Bio-Reference Laboratories, Inc. has appeared on the list. The magazine selected its candidates based on their pattern of positive growth during a five-year period as well as the last 12 months. They selected qualifying companies based on their sales in a $5 million to $750 million range along with net profit margins greater than 5% and share prices above $5 as of October 1 of this year.

This is the third national publication to rank BRLI near the top of its list of outstanding small companies. Earlier this year, BRLI was ranked #6 in the 2004 Fortune Small Business list of 100 of America’s Fastest-Growing Small Public Companies and #16 in the 2004 BusinessWeek list of the 100 Best Small Companies.
