BIOMAX INFORMATICS AG Releases the BioXM(TM) Knowledge Management Environment
Biomax Informatics AG today announces the release of the new BioXM(TM) Knowledge Management Environment, a fully customizable solution for better integrated and knowledge-based drug discovery and development.
During an Early Adaptor Program, the BioXM platform was successfully put to the test by three major life science companies in the pharmacology and nutrition research areas. Bertram Weiss, Senior Scientist at Schering AG, Germany, summarized his experience: “Biomax provides an intelligent – even visionary – solution for project-driven ad-hoc integration purposes where all kinds of relationships are easily uploaded or automatically extracted from other integrated data sources. The resulting biomedical networks can be explored and mined professionally by the novel and intuitive query builder. The very generic design of BioXM appeals to me: it is so easy to extend the data model. In a few minutes a new type of relationship is formalized and the data integrated with the help of the graphical user interface. This platform is not limited to accessing a build-in, curated data set, but has been capable of seamlessly integrating our own corporate knowledge as well. It’s connecting the information that makes the knowledge — and the difference.”
Dr. Sascha Losko, the Biomax Project Manager for the BioXM Knowledge Management Environment said, “The flexibility of the platform allows users to quickly respond to changes, realize ideas, and intuitively extract valuable relationships. The highly modular BioXM framework enables connection to a wide range of proprietary and public technologies and data. Customer and third-party tools can be added to provide an integrated solution for data analysis, data and knowledge management, knowledge generation and hypothesis modeling for the life science industry. For example, the BioRS(TM) Integration and Retrieval System can be seamlessly accessed to search and integrate heterogeneous public and proprietary databases, including both flat-file and relational formats. Users have the ability to extend and change the data organizational structure and adapt it for diverse user communities without destroying consistency.”
Dr. Klaus Heumann, CEO of Biomax emphasized, “This software platform addresses corporate needs regarding decision support, knowledge management and knowledge sharing in the life science industry. Individual scientists can use BioXM for data retrieval and information management all across research and development.” He continued, “User-friendly, flexible construction of semantically rich information-network connectivity allows the establishment and validation of working hypotheses with unprecedented efficiency. This is essential for quick turnaround times in research and development, to avoid cost-intensive development and to ensure a high return on investment.” www.biomax.com
