Biotrue Announces Collaborative Data Management System for Biomedical Researchers Now Available on Apple Mac OS X Server
Biotrue today announced the commercial availability of its Collaborative Data Management System (CDMS) for Apple’s Mac OS X Server. The CDMS is an effective, easy-to-use solution to the data management challenges presented by leading-edge life sciences research.
The CDMS allows biomedical researchers to store, manage, protect, retrieve and share data from practically any modern instrument system or computer workstation. Biotrue’s intuitive and convenient browser-accessed, cross-platform system improves researchers’ productivity, speeding research progress in both academic and commercial laboratories.
“While the National Institutes of Health supported the development of the CDMS as a cost-effective solution on Linux, scientists have long preferred the Mac platform,” said Antony Chiang, Biotrue’s co-founder and CEO. “The powerful combination of our CDMS running on Mac OS X Server allows scientists to focus on research and development, instead of looking for data and managing servers.”
“Apple has a strong presence in the science and biotech industries and researchers are increasingly choosing the power, stability and ease-of-use of Mac OS X Server,” said Ron Okamoto, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Developer Relations. “Biotrue’s Collaborative Data Management System is an excellent example of an application that uses Apple innovation to advance scientific research.”
Biotrue developed the CDMS in response to biomedical researchers’ needs. Scientists at globally prominent research facilities, including University of California, San Francisco, The J. David Gladstone Institutes, the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and San Francisco General Hospital, consulted in the development of the CDMS, participated as beta users and now use the CDMS in production. Current customers include laboratories at Bristol-Myers Squibb, Caltech, GlaxoSmithKline, Stanford University, UT Southwestern Medical Center
and additional labs at UCSF.
