Centre for Laboratory Medicine chose Software Point’s system for pathology laboratory
Centre for Laboratory Medicine in Pirkanmaa Hospital District has chosen Sapphire Clinical LIMS to its new pathology laboratory system. Vendor of the system is Software Point. The new system will be used by 70 physicians and lab technicians in processing and analysing samples in pathology laboratory. The aim is to better support and supervise laboratory’s working processes.
Development of the Sapphire Clinical LIMS is partly funded by Tekes, a Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation, as part of their future healthcare technology program
Managing Director Ari Miettinen from Centre for Laboratory Medicine says that Sapphire Clinical LIMS was chosen particularly by the users, i.e. pathology laboratory specialists.
Clinical LIMS is browser-based and configurable by laboratory’s own experts. Both the functionality and the layout of the system can be adapted, without programming, based on laboratory’s unique requirements without loosing the upgradeability.
According to Miettinen Sapphire’s sophisticated tools for production management and quality control were a clear advantage in comparison with systems that are designed only for clinical laboratories. Some of these features are adopted from industrial laboratories, for which the system was originally designed.
Centre for Laboratory Medicine offers clinical laboratory services in over 40 locations in Tampere city and Pirkanmaa region, for the need of over half a million inhabitants living in Pirkanmaa Hospital District. Centre for Laboratory Medicine is the first clinical laboratory in Finland to obtain an accreditation according to international standards.
