ChemNavigator Forms Strategic Development and Marketing Agreement with LION bioscience; LION bioscience and ChemNavigator enter key cheminformatics partnership
ChemNavigator today announced that it has signed a multi-year marketing relationship with LION bioscience. Traditionally known for its expertise in bioinformatics and new drug target identification, LION is expanding into cheminformatics to build a comprehensive drug discovery informatics offering.
Under the terms of this agreement, ChemNavigator will provide LION with custom software modules, which will be integrated into LION’s new LeadNavigator(TM) product. In addition, LION has entered into an exclusive global reseller agreement to resell ChemNavigator’s database subscriptions, products, and services.
ChemNavigator has supplied LION with components of its ChemMatrix-Tools for use in the development of LION’s new LeadNavigator(TM) Chemically Intelligent Spreadsheet application. ChemMatrix-Tools include a growing set of applications for chemical structure searching, file conversion, R-Group Analysis, structure normalization and structure publication. Companies interested in developing new cheminformatics products or custom applications may license these tools.
LION is now the exclusive sales and marketing channel for ChemNavigator’s iResearch Library and on-line iResearch System which tracks over 20 million drug-like chemical samples available from over 130 sources around the world. Scientists from over 30 pharmaceutical research organizations already use the iResearch Library as a source of chemical samples for testing in drug discovery.
Beyond software, LION is also offering ChemNavigator’s Virtual Screening Services based upon ChemNavigator’s proprietary 3-Dimensional protein-ligand mapping software called 3DPL. 3DPL technology allows ChemNavigator scientists to screen in silico over 3 million compounds per day on behalf of its research clients. 3DPL Virtual Screening enables client companies to identify biologically active molecules at a fraction of the cost of traditional screening methods.
LION and ChemNavigator plan to employ their respective expertise in bioinformatics and cheminformatics to perform research and development of new software and data systems that will link these key areas in one integrated discovery system. A central part of this research is ChemNavigator’s Affinity Project. The Affinity Project is an effort to develop the world’s largest, dynamically growing database of protein-ligand relationships mapping newly discovered proteins to pharmaceutically relevant chemical structures. The Affinity Project will provide a strategy to link new biological target discoveries in genomics and proteomics directly to new potential drugs.
About ChemNavigator, Inc.
ChemNavigator is a privately held pharmaceutical research company focused on drug discovery using our proprietary proteomics and cheminformatics technologies, called 3DPL(TM) and ChemMatrix(TM). Our competitive advantage is our unique ability to identify and analyze, with unmatched speed, the biochemical relationships that exist between a potential drug compound and its entire drug target molecule. Our 3DPL technology is designed to allow more efficient and cost effective drug discovery by providing the ability to screen tens of millions of potential drugs in silico in order to rapidly identify compounds with a high likelihood of showing favorable activity. Our ChemMatrix technology is employed within products and services used by over 40 pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies.
