ChemSW’s Latest CISPro Enhancement Now Provides Functionality for End-to-End Tracking of Cylinder Gas in Inventory
Ability to perform real-time tracking of cylinder gas by manufacturer label provides continuous accountability, eliminating lost cylinders
Fairfield, California, October 24, 2007 – ChemSW, Inc., the leader in chemical inventory systems, has released new functionality that enables users of CISPro Global and CISPro Live Chemical Inventory Systems® to perform real-time tracking of cylinder gas in inventory, providing complete continuous accountability of all cylinders any time, any where. Now, all inventory can be managed in the same inventory system, from chemicals, biologicals, instruments, and supplies to compressed cylinder gasses.
Using the bar code identification on the manufacturer’s label or ID tag along with CISPro’s unique tracking number, CISPro captures the cylinder data into a robust web-based database. Once in the CISPro database, users can check the status and location of any cylinder with absolute, validatable assurance that the cylinder data is correct. This means that no more cylinders are lost either at the organization’s site or in transit during shipping, thereby eliminating shipping and receiving disputes. In addition, because the exact status of all cylinders is known, the organization eliminates over purchasing of gasses, resulting in greater purchasing efficiency.
“Because they all look virtually the same, it’s easy for organizations to lose track of their cylinder gasses,” explains Rick Musselman, ChemSW’s Senior Technical Specialist. “It’s not just the lab that uses cylinder gas, so do other departments. This means that cylinders can be stored all over a building or site, making it hard to track them without using a single comprehensive electronic solution. CISPro enables users to track cylinders and other materials using a common inventory system that provides details on inventory by location, whether a single building or site, or multiple facilities and locations worldwide. Users can now know exactly when cylinders were received, when empty cylinders were picked up for return by the vendor, and who signed the paperwork.
“Whether the cylinder is from Airgas or Scott or some small specialty firm, it doesn’t matter who the gas vendor is – CISPro enables users know exactly what gas they have, how much, when it was received, and where it is,” states Musselman. “It takes the guesswork out of the inventory equation.”

Available now, the new function is resident in ChemSW’s CISPro Global and CISPro Live chemical inventory systems. There is no cost for the capability beyond the cost to upgrade to those solutions.
