Chemtech offers solutions for the optimization of alcohol plants
For the last few years Chemtech has been getting ready to provide the required technological support to alcohol plants in order to meet the fast growing world demand for bio-fuels.
Besides the solutions already offered to process industries in general – where one can highlight master plans for automation and information, auditing and control loop-tuning, and real-time production management (PIMS, MES, LIMS, and DV solutions) – Chemtech has developed important partnerships for the implementation of cutting-edge technology for the ethanol industry.
Together with American company Pavilion, Chemtech offers advanced-control and optimization solutions that increase plant production, reduce costs with utilities in 2-4%, energy consumption in distillation units in 5-15%, and final product quality variation in 50%, and also get the best possible performance from existing equipment.
For Siemens and Dedini in Brazil, Chemtech has been developing new process technologies that have already resulted in two patent applications for those companies: Split-feed and Molecular screen.
Split-feed is a process and system for the production of alcohol by means of multiple-effect distillation, used in the reduction of distillation steam. One can save enough to buy a R$10 million boiler and over R$540 thousand a month in the consumption of steam compared to a traditional plant.
Whereas the LSC Molecular Screen (Low Steam Consumption) substitutes traditionally used dehydration process systems, in an attempt to ensure operational stability when facing periodical variations in production and considerably reduce operational costs involved in the production of anhydrous alcohol.
Chemtech is ready to implement solutions in alcohol plants.
About Chemtech
Chemtech (www.chemtech-siemens.com) was founded by three chemical engineers, in Rio de Janeiro, in 1989. It is specialized in services and IT solutions for process industries (oil & gas, petrochemical and chemical, metals and mining, paper & pulp, food & beverages). In March 2001, the company became a member of the Siemens group and it is now part of the IP (Industrial Plants) division of the I&S (Industrial Solutions and Services) group. Since then, Chemtech has started to interact with other Siemens divisions and to offer more complete and sophisticated solutions to its clients.
Chemtech has its head office in Rio de Janeiro and support offices in São Paulo, Belo Horizonte, Salvador, and Houston.
Among Chemtech clients are Exxon Mobil, Saudi Aramco, and Petrobras. It also works with the 10 largest companies in the petrochemical and chemical industry in Brazil, with the 5 largest paper companies, the 4 largest mining companies, 3 of the 5 largest steel companies, and 4 of the 6 largest consumer product companies, according to the ranking of Exame magazine.
In 2004, thanks to believing in the importance of constant training and improvement of its professional team, Chemtech was chosen as one of the 150 best companies to work in in Brazil and one of the 9 best in Rio de Janeiro by the Guia Exame – Você S/A, a publication well known and reputed within the entrepreneurial and business environment.
In 2005, was chosen again as one of the 150 best companies, by the same publication.
