Chemtech Provides Solutions for Water Industry

For over a year Chemtech has been providing solutions for the water industry.  In 2005 and 2006 PDAI (Automation and Information Master Plan) projects and the NEW SCOA (Supply Operational Control System) were developed for Sabesp (Basic Sanitation Company of the State of São Paulo), the latter of which is scheduled to start-up on November 29.

Chemtech holds a highly specialized and qualified team capable of providing different solutions and improvements for the water industry.  Here are some of these solutions:

– MES layer: enables integration between control systems and corporate systems (geographic, energy consumption, user assistance, among others);

– PDA application: integration between field teams and control center team through PDA technology;

– decision-making support system: integration of control system (historical data), demand forecast and simulation in stationary system for the generation of an operational plan to be followed by the operational team;

– optimization of water supply process: integration of the decision-making support system to an optimization system to maximize water supply and minimize electric energy consumption;

– operational intelligence: real-time data visualization system of all relevant rates for the water company business.

Sabesp has been able to check the efficiency of Chemtech work and continues to count on our services.  NEW SCOA is an updating of the Supply Operational Control System.  Its main purpose is to provide gains to Sabesp as a decision-making support system integrated to all control tools; operational intelligence system (XHQ) making the performance rates per remote station, per area, per unit, as well as the corporate performance, available; and enabling the comparison of data among the various Sabesp corporate systems, such as water consumption by the population vs. production of treated water.

Sabesp has been using SCOA since 1977; this system enables the company to manage treated water transmission from the Water Treatment Plants to the reservoirs throughout the Integrated Water Supply System of the São Paulo Metropolitan Region.  The updated system, the NEW SCOA, will enable the control and simulation of all potable water arriving in the São Paulo reservoirs and which is then, through the control of another system, taken to the homes.

The project involves SCADA and PIMS configuration, definition of performance rates, operational intelligence (XHQ), interfaces with internal Sabesp systems, and modeling and simulation of the regional potable water transmission and storage system.  The implementation of this project, to be concluded by February 2007, will take place with no interference whatsoever in the water supply.

Data from more than 180 remote plants spread over an area of approximately 1,500 km2 will be collected.  This updating has strategic significance for Sabesp since it will enable the upgrading of operational security, the optimization of costs, and the supply of operational and managerial information to the various Company Units through the integrated adoption of new technologies.
