Children’s Hospital Of Colorado Selects UNIConnect Precision Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory Information System (LIS)
Denver, Colorado and Salt Lake City (November 10, 2014) – Children’s Hospital Colorado’s (Children’s Colorado) Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory announced today that it has signed an agreement with UNIConnect L.C. for deployment of the company’s Precision Molecular Diagnostics (PMDx) laboratory information system (LIS). The software system is designed to provide comprehensive automation of all laboratory processes from sample submission to final report while integrating with the CHC Pathology Department’s legacy clinical laboratory information system. The new system will help advance Children’s Colorado’s mission of exceptional service for its patients through the use of leading molecular methods including next generation sequencing.
Earlier this year, US News and World Report ranked Children’s Hospital Colorado as the 6th best children’s hospital in the United States. Children’s Colorado also is a part of the new University of Colorado Center for Personalized Medicine and Biomedical Informatics initiative.
The Children’s Hospital Molecular Diagnostics team conducted an extensive search and evaluation of potential technology options, ultimately choosing UNIConnect’s PMDx system because of the company’s deep experience in automating molecular diagnostics laboratories with approaches that expedite turnaround times while greatly reducing error rates. The result is greater productivity and an improvement in quality of care while reducing costs. The quality component of the investment in the PMDx system is multifaceted.
