Datastream 7i Goes Live at Five Sites in Ireland for the World’s Largest Pharmaceutical Company

Datastream Systems, Inc., a leading provider of Asset Performance Management (APM) solutions, today announced that it has successfully deployed Datastream 7i across five Pfizer sites in Ireland.  Adding to the successful implementation of maintenance, inventory, purchasing and calibration streams at the Loughbeg Tablet plant facility, the company is now live at five sites in a multi-organization deployment of the purchasing stream.

Datastream successfully deployed Datastream 7i at the Loughbeg Tablet plant in September 2002 (dubbed the ‘Go-Live’ project) and has been providing Pfizer with optimal maintenance management ever since.  This project was the first of its kind within the pharmaceutical industry to integrate maintenance and calibration management into one system.  Since implementation, Datastream 7i has boosted the efficiency of Pfizer’s maintenance, calibration, inventory control and purchasing operations within the Tablet plant and has allowed Pfizer to engage in best practice maintenance management in a manner consistent with the high regulatory compliance standards of the pharmaceutical industry.

In the next phase, Datastream 7i will be rolled out for maintenance, inventory and calibration to the other Pfizer plants in Dublin, Little Island, Loughbeg and Ringaskiddy.  This Ireland-wide implementation is part of a wider global project and makes use of the powerful functionality of Datastream 7i.  Hosted from one central location on a single, multi-organization database, Datastream 7i allows Pfizer to share information and maximize synergies across its Irish plants.

“The successful Go-Live of the Dublin purchasing stream means we have achieved three out of three Go-Live dates on schedule for the first three phases, which is a tremendous credit to both the Pfizer and Datastream project teams,” explained Peter O’Rourke, IT Director for Pfizer, Ireland.

Thibault de Clisson, Datastream’s Vice President and Managing Director Europe, Middle East, Africa, concluded, “Datastream’s customers demand excellence and we have proven our excellence to Pfizer through the initial implementation at the Loughbeg Tablet plant and the subsequent multi-org expansion.  Pfizer is now seeking to achieve further optimization in its supply chain and manufacturing performance across all its plants and, by using Datastream 7i, Pfizer will be able to achieve further success in cost reduction, risk management, regulatory compliance and equipment reliability.”
