DATATRAK Makes First Application in the Unifyer Family, MetriX(TM) Interface, Available for Early Customer Use

DATATRAK International, Inc., the leading and most experienced Application Service Provider (ASP) in the Electronic Data Capture (EDC) industry, today announced that the Company has made available the first member of the Unifyer(TM) family of products, branded as MetriX(TM) Interface, to one of their largest customers. MetriX(TM) is being used in this pre-release phase to provide real-time information necessary for supporting the continuous improvement process of internal workflow related to electronic clinical trials.  As the name suggests, MetriX(TM) is a special-purpose user interface designed to provide process metrics through its ability to search, examine and dissect as much as eight million audit trail records in a matter of seconds from DATATRAK’s ASP environment.  The process data provided by MetriX(TM) will allow clients to quantitatively grade the level of efficiency provided by their internal teams or their CROs in the performance of electronic clinical trials.

This early use program is currently only being offered to a restricted client base as this preliminary experience will be used to finalize the user interface based upon customer input.  After the input from the client(s) is/are incorporated into final modifications, a formal release of MetriX(TM) will be done later in 2005.  MetriX(TM) will then help all clients maximize their investments by quickly revealing inefficient processes that weretypically designed around processing paper.

DATATRAK has filed a patent application for the software concepts underlying the Unifyer(TM) architecture and a patent is pending.  Unifyer(TM) software can integrate and mine information from disparate sources, including legacy systems, through repository/warehouse architecture.  This software approach is believed to be unique in its ability to “unify” clinical information regardless of the inherent database structure of other applications.  Through such “unification,” all information would be collected into a general repository or warehouse allowing for virtually instantaneous mining of such data on a local or remote basis through the Company’s  stablished and scalable ASP delivery model.  Because of the speed and efficiency of the Unifyer(TM) architecture, in an ASP mode all updates are in real time allowing customers to be continuously aware of results in their ongoing clinical trials.  Importantly, use of the Unifyer architecture is generic in its application and is not restricted to just the clinical trials industry, but could be utilized in any environment that requires the sharing of information, which is virtually every conceivable industry.

“We believe the Unifyer base supporting MetriX(TM) to be truly breakthrough technology and eagerly look forward to further exploiting its vast capabilities,” said Marc Shlaes, DATATRAK’s Chief Technology Officer.

“The innovativeness of the Unifyer strategy is now being demonstrated through the early use program of MetriX(TM) Interface in ongoing international clinical trials,” stated Dr. Jeffrey A. Green, President and Chief Executive Officer of DATATRAK International, Inc.  “In one of the trials using MetriX(TM), 6,000 data entries per day have been experienced.  One can appreciate the value of being able to update the status of your project minute-by-minute with this magnitude of entries from your investigators. MetriX(TM) is just one specific tool that has been developed based upon an extension of the overall Unifyer concept that has the foundational strategy that a single database, or UniBase, offers greater functionality than what currently exists throughout this industry, which are multiple unrelated and disparate database structures, often from a variety of vendors or companies. The entire UniBase architecture, though proprietary and unique to DATATRAK,has the capability to communicate with an unlimited number of database constructs.  We will continue to focus in 2005 on maturing the Unifyer platform, which was created by the most experienced software development team in the EDC industry.”
