Position Title: Director, Procurement 
Summary: 
Oversee purchasing activities and staff in procurement management and manufacturer relationships while enhancing processes and systems development to support the continued growth of the company. Monitors shelf life of the materials and stringently controls stock out. Creates and administers procurement and vendor development programs. Ensures that supplies are available to provide ongoing productivity improvements to overall operational efficiency. 
The objectives are to continue to build relationships between vendors, improve procedures, support customer service and marketing which will ultimately be beneficial to the prosperity of the organization. 
Key Responsibilities: 
Oversee procurement of API's, Raw Materials, and Packaging materials for all Sun locations 
Negotiate favorable terms and pricing with vendors 
Source alternate vendors and develop risk mitigating strategies for key materials 
Track vendor performance using KPI's such as OTIF and quality rejections 
Source/replace current material with alternatives to optimize cost of materials 
Prepare budgets, achieve and track savings targets and generate reports. 
Responsibilities: 
Review production schedule to evaluate the Raw Materials requirements required to support the schedule 
Negotiate with vendors and manufacturers (price, terms and conditions) to obtain the best prices and secure continuous supply of materials 
Obtain the necessary legal documents (CDA’s for all locations, supply agreements, quality agreements etc.) by working with the legal department 
Continuously review pricing to ensure that the best possible prices and terms are obtained 
Monitor vendor performance by KPI's such as OTIF, quality rejections, etc. 
Prepare and track annual budgets and savings targets 
Source alternate vendors for key materials and work towards developing risk mitigation strategies 
Assign procurement requests to appropriate personnel 
Follow and confirm/release purchase orders in ERP/SAP 
Conduct regular and/or spot check inventories of raw materials 
Establish and implement vendor development programs to ensure continuous improvement 
Follow up on claims arriving out of damaged goods 
Arrange disposal of surplus/expired materials 
Support R&D for the sourcing of materials and to obtain technical required documents for multiple locations 
Seek out new business development opportunities 
Obtain all regulatory documentation required for the FDA submissions 
Obtain from all material manufacturers the TSE/BSE/Allergen and Elemental Impurity statements 
Work with the logistic department for the clearing of materials received from overseas 
Assist when necessary in setting up new procedures and systems 
Monitor materials (API, excipients, and packaging components) inventory 
Provide suppliers with periodic forecasts especially when materials/components have long delivery lead times 
Interact and support all upper management projects 
Insure supply chain teams follow up and resolve all issues between the company departments 
Evaluate alternate source/oportunities for active and in-active materials 
Follow-up on open purchase orders 
Liaison between procurement and the financial departments – cost of goods, etc. 
Continue to build strong business relationships with current and new suppliers 
Assist with updating purchasing systems and procedures 
Participate and successfully complete all training as required by the company 
Perform additional tasks and projects as assigned. 

Requirements: 

Minimum 15 years of directly related procurement experience or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. 
Purchasing background at a managerial level is a must 
Industry experience in pharmaceutical, health care, and/or bio technology is a must 
Experience with the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry and knowledge of GCP and cGMP documentation is a strong plus 
SAP knowledge and experience is required 
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other applications as applicable, plus the ability to learn company used applications as required 
Strong attention to detail, organizational, and communication skills are a must 
Strong analytical and problem solving skills required 
Strong skills in vendor interaction, persuasion, and negotiation 
Ability to deal with matters with a high level of integrity, cross-cultural sensitivity, high level interpersonal skills, adaptability, and flexibility 
Ability to track multiple tasks simultaneously 
Familiarity with accounting procedures. 
Education: 
Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Science or Engineering or related field

Must have English language fluency, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate at all levels within the organization.
