Dotmatics Integrates OpenEye Software into Electronic Laboratory Notebook

Lexichem’s Automatic Chemical Naming Now Part of Studies Notebook ELN

(Marketwire) — 04/12/11 — Dotmatics Ltd. have integrated Lexichem’s automatic chemical naming from OpenEye Scientific Software Inc., into Studies Notebook, Dotmatics’ Electronic Laboratory Notebook (ELN)solution, the company announced today. Studies Notebook is a platform independent, completely web-based ELN that allows scientific researchers to protect their Intellectual Property (IP).

Lexichem is an industry leading software technology that automates the inter-conversion of chemical structures to chemical names, from English and foreign languages. The integration of Lexichem’s naming functionality to Studies Notebook allows scientists to have all of their reactions, products and reagents automatically named quickly and consistently in the conventional IUPAC format. This enables them to capture, process and search their data and databases quickly, consistently and accurately, leading to increased efficiency in Research and Development (R&D), more effective IP protection and greater Regulatory consistency.

The sheer volume of data generated from numerous sources within the modern R&D process creates challenges in the search, storage and retrieval of chemical inventories, reactions or patents. Studies Notebook from Dotmatics provides a single, fully-searchable and web-based platform for both chemistry and biology electronic data capture in discovery research. The integration of Lexichem’s chemical naming functionality within the Studies ELN environment provides a dynamic solution to these problems and provides a platform upon which data and know-how can be shared consistently corporate-wide.

“We are delighted to be able to offer OpenEye’s Lexichem integrated within our notebook environment as is considered the very best chemical naming tool by the industry.”, commented Dr. Steve Gallagher, Director and CEO of Dotmatics, “Our solutions have always been designed to increase the speed and consistency of data entry, improve IP protection and make information retrieval and visualization a simple desktop function. The integration of Lexichem into Studies Notebook underlines our commitment to providing top-quality, effective and intuitive software solutions to our customers.”

“We are very pleased that Dotmatics have chosen Lexichem for their chemical naming needs”, said Dr. Joseph Corkery, Vice President of Business Development at OpenEye. “Dotmatics has quickly become a prime solution provider for scientific data management and we are confident that this partnership will add significant value to the solutions we deliver to our growing customer base.”
