Easy-to-Use LIS Solution from Fletcher-Flora Allows Small Hospitals to Save Time and Reduce Costs

Fletcher-Flora Health Care Systems Inc. (OTC:FFLH) today announced that Southwestern Virginia Mental Health in Marion, Va., Dandridge Family Practice Center in Dandridge, Tenn. and Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon, Tenn., have signed Master License Agreements to implement its LabPak(R) laboratory information system (LIS) solution.

In addition to small rural hospitals, the Windows(TM)-based, cost-effective LabPak line is suitable for physician office laboratories, group practices, clinics and small hospitals and has solved the laboratory information system needs of over 1,300 customers across the United States, Canada and the Bahamas. The LabPak suite offers proven, cost-effective solutions that are easy to use, simple to install and provide a wide range of over 400 instrument and host interfaces.

Southwestern Virginia Mental Health chose to update its current LIS to LabPak II to increase its reporting possibilities and update its capabilities with LabPak’s Inquiry Workstation feature and AutoFax Capability. Dandridge Family Practice Center, which consists of three offices, will consolidate its lab operations and instruments through LabPak POL Plus and do all of its testing at its main laboratory site. Dandridge also looks for LabPak to save time and reduce costs through moving from manual to automated laboratory testing. Through its purchase of LabPak POL Plus, Baptist Memorial Hospital will be able to run three times the instruments automatically rather than manually, dramatically increasing its throughput and reducing its manual effort.

“Upgrading our lab system with Fletcher-Flora’s LIS will bring the added feature of online inquiry to our nursing units and will help our lab run more efficiently,” remarked Becky Barker, lab manager for Southwestern Virginia Mental Health. “The reporting formats are also a big bonus for our doctors who have expressed their approval.”

“Automating the flow of data by integrating their instruments and host systems to LabPak will dramatically improve the efficiency of their laboratories,” explained Neal Flora, president and CEO of Fletcher-Flora Health Care Systems. “In addition to saving time and reducing cost, LabPak will allow each of these organizations to reduce medical errors and improve profitability.”
