Make your mark in public service. As an accredited public health department, we're seeking a highly qualified candidate for the position of Informatics Analyst 2 within the Environmental Health section.

This position will support the Environmental Health Section (EHS) programs to ensure the program has the technology and informatics capacity needed to operate effectively to meet program objectives while adhering to all regulations and requirements.  The incumbent is expected to apply computational methods and assist in the development of innovative approaches to challenges and to support all Environmental Health programs data analysis.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Build/deploy highly complex visualizations; you will be the go-to designer on projects from start to finish to create compelling visual dashboards in Power BI and other BI tools.
  • Develop a deep understanding of our users and create user journeys, and detailed UI flows and dashboards.
  • Develop and execute training initiatives for end-users and provide knowledge transfer, training and support to Interactors, Viewers and users.
  • Performing and documenting data analysis, data validation, and data mapping/design.
  • Provide solutions to performance optimization and query optimization within production Power BI and other BI dashboards,
  • Create and edit complex SQL queries and Data Analysis Expressions (DAX) formulas.
  • Ability to take decisions on handling data complexity at source, keeping performance and practicality in mind.
  • Work under reasonable deadlines in a highly dynamic environment, manage multiple tasks and projects, and effectively coordinate with Program Directors for new projects and changes.

Skills Summary

  • Strong Excel, Power BI, and Power Query skills; experience in using the features in the latest versions.
  • Good dashboarding experience and ability to suggest visualization options that are rich and performant.
  • Good Data handling experience with ability to handle multiple data sources within the same report must be able to decide on merge vs relationships.
  • Good experience in developing complex calculations, metrics, and drill-down features – This visual design role is part of the Evaluation and Support team.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field 

OR

Associate degree in a related field and two years of related experience 

OR

Two years at the lower level or equivalent (ITP060.)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years Power BI Developer experience required, DA-100 Certification a plus.
  • 3-5 years’ experience with relational database systems required.
  • Strong understanding of data extracts, parameterization, and publishing options.
  • Strong understanding of Power BI best practices, constraints and limitations.
  • Ability to collaborate with business leaders and communicate findings at an executive level.
  • Ability to perform data analysis and troubleshoot data integrity issues.
  • Experience using M language for query and ETL
  • Experience with programming languages (SQL, Python, R) and knowledge of ETL processes, end-to-end data warehousing principles, methodologies, and practices a plus.
  • Experience with public health domain is a plus.
