The Institute of Environmental Science & Research Limited (“ESR”) primarily provides a

range of scientific services to New Zealand government agencies from applied science

and research, consultancy and analytical services.,

We provide specialist science solutions relating to:

· Public Health,

· Environmental Health; and

· Forensic Science.

While the range of scientific services ESR’s delivers is unusually diverse the laboratories

perform the standard Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) functions of

managing and processing samples, analysing, reviewing/managing, reporting and

archiving results and the returning or destroying the samples.

This document is a Request for Information for the provision of a Laboratory Information

Management System (LIMS) solution to ESR. It describes the nature of the software and

associated implementation services being sought, and the general conditions surrounding

the Request for Information process.

As a core business system that is key to ESR’s science service delivery contractual

obligations the LIMS suite of systems need to:

· Be in line with industry best practice architecture standards;

· Provide user interfaces (e.g. web browsers) and integration capabilities in a reliable,

secure and scalable manner;

· Provide auditabiltiy and privacy of information;

· Support maintainability and ensure supportability;

· Provide scalability and performance;

· Include sound security measures that include authentication and authorisation.
