“The University of Florida (‘UF’) College of Veterinary Medicine Diagnostic Laboratories (‘VDL’) invites qualified vendors to submit proposals for a new Laboratory Information Management System (‘LIS’ or ‘LIMS’). UF VDL consists of anatomic pathology (necropsy pathology and surgical pathology, with several sub-specialty groups), histology, clinical pathology (cytologic pathology, hematology, chemistry, coagulation, endocrinology, urinalysis, and blood product crossmatching), microbiology (bacteriology, serology, parasitology, and virology), central labs receiving (which serves as a reference point for submitters as well as receives samples for all lab sections), and quality assurance and management. While the laboratory performs most of the testing in-house, tests are sent out to several outside laboratories all over the country.
The hospital uses IDEXX’s Cornerstone as the electronic medical record (EMR) software, invoicing, and billing software. The laboratories currently use a variety of Excel and Google spreadsheets and Word and Google documents to log and manage samples. MediaLab is the current document control system for work instructions. The clinical pathology laboratory uses the Beckman Coulter AU480 for chemistry, Advia 2120i for CBCs, Stago Compact Max for coagulation testing, and the Immulite 1000 and 2000 for endocrinology testing. The microbiology laboratory uses the Aris 2X for antimicrobial susceptibility testing and the Brüker Biotyper for MALDI-TOF analysis.”
