Electronic Lab Notebook from Rescentris Introduces Chemistry Capabilities with ChemAxon Partnership; For the First Time the Chemist and the Biologist Have One Software Solution to Enhance Collaboration and Advance Their Research Goals

COLUMBUS, Ohio–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Aug. 22, 2006–The Rescentris Electronic Lab Notebook now offers the chemical drawing and editing capabilities of ChemAxon’s Marvin, and the chemical structure management and search of ChemAxon’s JChem Base. The newly created Rescentris CERF Chemistry Edition will further expand Rescentris’ reach as a multi-disciplinary discovery platform. “Today’s life scientists need a knowledge platform that increases the efficiency of their research dollars and improves overall R&D performance,” says Rescentris’ CEO, Adel Mikhail. “Scientists need to manage their assay data, protocols, and chemical structures in the same application. Biological and chemical intellectual property needs to be captured and managed in the same solution.”

ChemAxon, the leading provider of Java based chemical software development platforms for the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries, has partnered to make its tools and API’s available in CERF, the Rescentris Collaborative Electronic Research Framework. Ferenc Csizmadia, ChemAxon CEO, commented “We are happy to see this partnership as it will immediately bring enterprise chemistry functionality to the Rescentris ELN for biology and broaden the offering across multi-disciplinary life science R&D.” The partnership with ChemAxon enables CERF to further improve productivity, quality, and decision making for both scientists and project managers.

CERF uses ChemAxon’s Marvin and JChem to enable chemistry in its Electronic Lab Notebook. Marvin allows users to build chemical structures and reactions and to view live chemical objects within their workspace. The JChem Base toolkit provides industry leading precision to register, manage and search chemical structures throughout an organization’s chemical IP. In the future, clustering, virtual library enumeration, screening and drug design capabilities can be rolled out to Rescentris’ CERF users to ensure the relevance of CERF to chemical and life science research.
