Frankford Hospitals Successfully Activate Eclipsys IT Solution; Health System Activates CPOE System Across Three Hospitals to Drive Patient Safety

Eclipsys Corporation(R), The Outcomes Company(R), (Nasdaq:ECLP), today announced that Frankford Hospitals, a multi-hospital entity based in Philadelphia, PA, has successfully activated Eclipsys’ Sunrise(TM) Clinical Manager software solution.

Sunrise Clinical Manager has been activated at Frankford’s Torresdale, Frankford and Bucks County campuses. The Sunrise Clinical Manager modules installed at these three campuses include Eclipsys’ computerized physician order entry (CPOE), Knowledge-Based Orders(TM), Clinical Documentation and Medication Administration Record (MAR). Frankford has also interfaced Sunrise Clinical Manager with its existing laboratory, radiology and cardiology solutions.

“Sunrise Clinical Manager is the foundation of Frankford’s initiative to provide integration of our software solutions and the sharing of information among our clinicians,” said Joe Olszewski, vice president of information systems and chief information officer at Frankford Hospitals. “Sunrise Clinical Manager’s capabilities, such as knowledge-based order entry and clinical documentation, combined with its ability to interface with third-party systems, will enable us to reduce the potential for medical errors while increasing efficiency throughout our three hospitals.”

Frankford’s physicians and nurses played a major role in the successful implementation of Sunrise Clinical Manager. With the activation of Sunrise Clinical Manager at all three hospitals, Frankford’s clinicians have immediate, secure access to patient information and medical content to aid them in their clinical decision-making.

“Automating the order entry and clinical documentation processes streamlines workflow by improving communication and reducing the amount of time spent on paperwork,” said Paul L. Ruflin, Eclipsys president and CEO. “Eclipsys’ strength comes from our proven ability to deliver a comprehensive electronic medical record solution based on a single database that is easier to use and maintain. This, in turn, results in a lower total cost of ownership for forward-thinking organizations like Frankford.”

A long-time Eclipsys customer, Frankford has used the legacy Eclipsys 7000 series clinical information system for more than twenty years. Sunrise Clinical Manager is being hosted remotely from Eclipsys’ Technology Solutions Center located in Mountain Lakes, NJ.
