GenoLogics Introduces ProteusLIMS Version 2.0

GenoLogics Life Sciences Inc. (GenoLogics), a leader in bioinformatics solutions that help research and pharmaceutical laboratories manage, integrate and analyze enormous volumes of scientific data, announced today the introduction of ProteusLIMS™ Version 2.0 software platform for proteomics.

ProteusLIMS provides sample tracking, lab management, instrument integration, and proteomics focused workflow and data management for gels, mass spectrometry and protein searches. Significant innovations featured in this next version release of ProteusLIMS make it the leading system for proteomics, providing labs with solutions that improve productivity and scientific decision making.

“GenoLogics continues its commitment to open standards for its lab and scientific data management system with Version 2.0 of its flagship product – ProteusLIMS,” said James DeGreef, VP Product Management. “Version 2.0 introduces significant new functionality in integrating with analytic software for gels and protein search, as well as new features to improve reporting, usability and workflow support for new experimental techniques.”

ProteusLIMS seamlessly integrates with Progenesis, the industry leading 2D gel analysis software from Nonlinear Dynamics. This development enables labs to pull experiment data and in-depth gel analysis together with other information and put it in context with the rest of the research for more sophisticated analysis and decision making.

ProteusLIMS also integrates with Mascot®, the protein search software from Matrix Science, enhancing the ability of a lab to go beyond point analysis of data and improve the traceability and reproducibility of experiments. Integration with Sequest and other vendors is also in progress.

The flexibility of the ProteusLIMS platform facilitates rapid integration with other tools. Further, the configurability of ProteusLIMS enables project and sample tracking to support any workflow – including the new cutting edge experiments such as quantitative labeling techniques. Advanced configuration tools facilitate adding user defined fields, while sample genealogy visualization is an intuitive tool for navigating sample history and work performed, all of which increase the usability of the system. With new web publishing features that facilitate real-time collaboration, and enhanced reporting functionality that allows researchers to create reports on the fly, the enhanced ability to discuss results collaboratively improves decision making.

The new ProteusLIMS solution will be showcased at the Association of Biomolecular Resource Facilities (ABRF) conference to be held in Savannah, Georgia, Feb 5-8, 2005. In addition to the exhibit at the conference, GenoLogics VP of Product Management, Mr. James DeGreef, will be presenting a paper on “Proteomics Laboratory Information and Scientific Data Management System”. DeGreef will highlight how the GenoLogics system is more than a workflow solution – as a comprehensive and integrated lab, instrument, and scientific data management, it transforms the data management process into a sophisticated analytical system that aids research and scientific discovery.
