GenoLogics Releases Research Informatics 5.0 – A LIMS and Data Management Solution for Life Sciences Research

Victoria, BC, Canada – June 4, 2009 – GenoLogics, the leading developer of informatics solutions for translational research, today announced it has released its latest data management and LIMS solution – Research Informatics 5.0 (RI 5.0). Unlike generic or enterprise LIMS that service traditional markets like manufacturing, petrochemicals, and water testing, Research Informatics 5.0 is the only LIMS and data management platform that is specifically built for omics technologies and truly enables life sciences research.

This is the ideal platform to use to support multiple core facilities across an institution. These facilities could be conducting a variety of omics sciences and all using the RI 5.0 platform to ensure data harmonization across multiple sciences.

For scientists and principal investigators, Research Informatics 5.0 offers additional science capabilities within the Geneus and Proteus applications to further strengthen their omics and data integration focus. Significant additions to this new release include enhanced instrument automation and data integration framework to support rapid instrument integrations. This is a key requirement for life sciences research, and it’s a key differentiator for RI 5.0 when compared to many other LIMS platforms.

For informatics professionals, it also offers additional platform enhancements through OMIX, a LIMS built for life science, which provides expanded LIMS capabilities such as support for multiple, geographically distributed, omics core labs. The web reporting portal, adaptive data model, library of pre-integrated instruments, and other platform capabilities really enable informatics teams to adopt the platform and evolve it to meet changing environments and research needs, without expensive professional services.

“Customers are adopting the GenoLogics platform to enable multiple facility collaboration within research enterprises, and we see this trend continuing,” stated Sal Sanci, VP Products for GenoLogics.

Recent customers such as University of Southern California, The Centre for Applied Genomics at The Hospital for Sick Children, University College London, Ontario Cancer Biomarker Network, and Pfizer offer further proof of GenoLogics’ strategy of investing in domain expertise, science capabilities, and its partner network to really differentiate it from other LIMS companies in this market.

Over the last year, GenoLogics strengthened its development relationships with leading instrument providers like Illumina, Affymetrix, Life Technologies (formerly ABI). Tight integrations with leading instruments are part of the OMIX platform and the Geneus and Proteus applications.
“Research Informatics 5.0 offers capabilities that I believe surpass any life sciences LIMS and data management platform on the market today,” added Sanci.
