Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center taps Ariadne for G-DOC Pathway Data and Tools

ROCKVILLE, MD, February 10, 2011 – Ariadne, a leader in bioinformatics software and knowledge integration, announces today that Georgetown University signed a site license for the use of Pathway Studio® software.  In continuing its goal of adopting and applying innovative technologies, Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center will employ Pathway Studio to aid researchers in their efforts to unravel cancer disease biology, disease progression, and translational medicine.  These research findings will be shared using Pathway Studio through the Georgetown Database of Cancer (G-DOC) initiative.

“Translational medicine has become increasingly important as an investigative tool to help identify biomarkers and surrogate markers involved with disease or therapeutic response.  Finding tools that can help integrate published findings with our microRNA experimental data is exciting as this advancement will enhance our ability to create disease models and hypotheses more rapidly and with greater accuracy,” states Dr. Subha Madhavan, Director of Clinical Research Informatics at Georgetown Lombardi.

“Ariadne’s expertise in developing biological knowledgebases for disease modeling fits nicely into Georgetown Lombardi’s vision and goals.  We look to help them achieve greater understanding of cancer and to apply these discoveries to have the greatest impact in translational medicine.” States Ilya Mazo, president of Ariadne.

Pathway Studio’s workflow approach allows researchers to mine, integrate, analyze and visualize results individually or as an integrated workflow.  Each step can be saved, then updated or modified as new information becomes available. Separate analyses can be combined or intersected for advanced applications and discovery.

About Ariadne

Ariadne (www.ariadnegenomics.com), a leader in research data products and knowledge enrichment-based software solutions, helps pharmaceutical and life science researchers tap known scientific knowledge for applications in systems biology and translational medicine. We provide a portfolio of solutions for life science, drug discovery and development applications including custom data products, knowledge extraction and visualization software, knowledge reports, and informatics staffing.

Pathway Studio, built and powered by MedScan® technology, is integrated data mining and visualization software that allows organizations and researchers to rapidly extract relevant facts and relationships from large document collections (text-mining), build focused knowledgebases (databases), while supporting the integration of OMICS experiments. The extracted knowledge is used in an interactive scaffold for defining and testing in silico-based hypotheses across a wide range of disciplines including mechanistic modelling of disease, drug action and toxicity, as well as biomarker discovery, cellular and network pathway building, protein-protein interactions and many more.

Pathway Studio is available in desktop and enterprise versions along with therapeutic-focused knowledgebases and cartridges. For more information, visit us at www.ariadnegenomics.com.
