Geospiza Finch Sequencing Center with Genotyping Data Manager Component Now Available
Geospiza, an industry-leading developer of software for DNA sequencing data management and analysis, announced the commercial release of the Geospiza Finch Genotyping Data Manager, an add-on component to the Geospiza Finch Sequencing Center software designed to help manage and analyze the hundreds of thousands of data files that genotyping instruments produce when researchers are identifying genes which indicate a susceptibility to known polymorphisms in DNA structure. In conjunction with this release Geospiza is also announcing the launch of version 2.12 of its core product line: the integrated Geospiza Finch Sequencing Center platform.
Geospiza’s new Finch Genotyping Data Manager will support the import and distribution of genotyping data from all of the widely-installed Applied Biosystems’ (NYSE:ABI) capillary instruments, including the 3100, 3700, and 3730. This value-added software component loads genotyping data and .fsa files into the Finch server for processing by the Finch Pipeline Engine and then the genotyping data is automatically distributed to the appropriate user for viewing, sorting, drill-down and analysis at their own computers. The Finch Genotyping Data Manager is priced from $4,995 to $9,995.
According to Todd M. Smith, Ph.D., Geospiza’s chairman and CEO, “New insights into genetic variations and subject susceptibility are expected to profoundly change our understanding of human disease and the practice of medicine and pharmacology in the coming years. With Geospiza Finch Genotyping Data Manager, we are providing an integrated solution for genotyping data management and distribution that will help the scientific research and medical communities as a whole become more efficient and productive as they pursue an increasingly cost-effective and practical means of predicting gene mutation.”
The newest release of Geospiza Finch Sequencing Center v2.12, being launched at the same time, adds several new features to the technologically and scientifically mature Finch Sequencing Center already in use by several thousand users in Asia, Europe, and South and North America. For example, customers in core sequencing lab facilities have asked specifically for “review before release” functionality, enabling lab technicians to review sequencing results for quality prior to distribution to the end researcher. Release v2.12 incorporates this powerful and important feature, which is unique in the industry.
About Geospiza Finch Sequencing Center
Geospiza Finch Sequencing Center leverages web-based forms and enterprise-level IT infrastructure for streamlining the management of sequencing data, scientific analysis and laboratory workflow. Resulting data are automatically checked by the Finch software for quality, then trimmed, vector masked and delivered into a designated secure database scientists can use to review results or share with colleagues and collaborators. The Geospiza family of Finch Applications, including Finch Assembly Manager, Finch BLAST Search Manager, FinchTV, Finch Genotyping Data Manager, Finch Oligo Order Manager and Finch Customer Invoice Manager, expand this core data analysis and business functionality.
