Hayes Clinical Laboratory Improves Laboratory Management with MediSolution

Reference Laboratory Implements an Integrated Laboratory Information System and Patient Accounting Solution

The Hayes Clinical Laboratory (Hayes) has signed an agreement to purchase MediLab®, an automated laboratory information system (LIS), and MediAR+®, a comprehensive patient accounting solution that enables the organization to improve their cashflows and collections. MediSolution (TSX:MSHNews), will provide Hayes with an efficient, integrated LIS and financial system that will give them the tools to track important patient tests and results, improve client specific reporting, accounting and billing processes. The contract, which will generate revenues of $300,000 US, will begin implementation in December, 2004.

Hayes, a reference laboratory in Boynton Beach, Florida, will improve the management of their laboratory with MediLab. With its graphical user interface, customizable process, and rules based decision support, MediLab results in an improved patient management process and will allow Hayes to provide clients with improved service. The web module provides electronic order entry, the ability to create test requests, manage sample collections and access test results, all while allowing multiple users to have access to real-time information.

MediAR+, which will be integrated at the database level with MediLab, contains an electronic workflow engine that will enable Hayes to improve its accounts payable and inventory management systems, automate every stage of the billing and collection processes and ultimately improve cash flows and reduce collection times. The ability to customize rules and processes ensures that laboratory staff need only respond to exceptions while facilitating timely collections.

“The superior technology found in the laboratory and patient accounting system made MediSolution an easy choice for us,” said Chad Fredrich, President, Hayes Clinical Laboratory. “We will now have superior data management capabilities, the ability to adjust to client requirements, and the opportunity to improve our patient outreach.”

“This is a great market opportunity for MediSolution in the United States,” said Paul Lepage, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, MediSolution Ltd. “We are pleased to be working with Hayes as a key reference MediLab and MediAR+ contract, and we look forward to helping them improve functionality, reduce turn around time for results and create operational efficiencies.”
