INCOGEN Releases Version 3.1 of VIBE Data Pipelining Software for Bioinformatics; Several Key Milestones Including VIBE-ED Beta Deployment and Broader OS Coverage

INCOGEN has announced the April release of Version 3.1 of the award-winning and industry-leading Visual Integrated Bioinformatics Environment: VIBE.

Version 3.1 continues the deployment of enhancements and new features for the client-server bioinformatics environment from INCOGEN. VIBE has pioneered the use of cross-platform technology and a “drag and drop” user interface to greatly accelerate the creation and deployment of analysis workflows. Key elements of the 3.1 release include:

— Solaris 10 SPARC(TM) support

— Further Simplified setup and configuration

— Improved usability

— Deployment of the VIBE-Ed(TM) Beta release to educational participants

A long term Sun Partner, INCOGEN has extended support to the Solaris 10 SPARC(TM) operating system.

In 2004, INCOGEN announced the SBIR Grant award that helped fund the development of VIBE-Ed. The new software will address the lack of educational tools in bioinformatics and the resulting shortage of trained personnel with necessary skills to extract knowledge and derive benefits from data generated in life science research experiments. The Beta release is being evaluated by institutions that are leading the way in Bioinformatics Education.
