Information Data Management Announces Implementation of Surround System 4.0 by Florida’s Blood Centers

Information Data Management, Inc. (IDM) announces the implementation of their Surround 4.0 System by Florida’s Blood Centers for its comprehensive process control features and its instrument interface capabilities. Florida’s Blood Centers will utilize the Surround 4.0 System for decision making, sorting and reporting of donor testing results to their testing clients.

“Surround 4.0 further improves our efficiency by capturing all test results via interfaces. Valuable reports and worksheets have been made available and the QA release of all required donor testing is an essential cGMP improvement,” states Chris Smith, Director of Laboratory Services for Florida’s Blood Centers.

“With the market withdrawal of DMS, the intent of this Surround revision was to provide a complete DMS replacement for our current customers as well as the blood bank industry. We are very pleased to provide Florida’s Blood Centers with this revision and the opportunity to reinforce our commitment to the advancement of their blood center operations”, states Susan McBride, Director, Business Development.

Surround is an open laboratory system that provides sample management, instrument interface, decision-making and a powerful reporting module that will benefit both centralized and freestanding laboratories in the blood and plasma sectors.

About Florida’s Blood Centers

Florida’s Blood Centers (FBC) was established on April 2, 1942, shortly after the start of World War II. During its 60 years, FBC has consistently provided the communities it serves with a safe and adequate blood supply. Today, FBC is the sole supplier of blood and blood products to 50 healthcare facilities in a 17-county area. With its 29 locations, 23 mobile units, and two portable collection equipment sets, the not-for-profit 501(C3) organization provides more than 250,000 pints of blood each year – donated entirely by volunteers – and remains the largest blood bank in Florida and the fourth largest independent blood bank in the nation.
