Information Data Management Announces Release of Surround 4.0

Information Data Management (IDM) announced the release of Surround version 4.0, an open laboratory system designed to manage test results for blood and plasma centers.  Surround was initially developed to create an open and flexible laboratory system that collects test results from multiple sources and performs applicable decision-making in order for a final result interpretation to be made.   The system collates the data based on client requirements and has multiple transfer options to meet client needs. In addition, Surround interfaces with multiple laboratory instruments providing the flexibility that today’s blood and plasma centers require to stay current with the continuous changes in the industry.

With the market withdrawal of DMS, the intent of this Surround revision was to provide a complete DMS replacement for our current customers as well as the blood bank industry.  New functionality incorporated into this revision includes:

  • Enhanced test result release ability by making QA Release available for all results

  • Full support of sample IDs using ISBT 128 format

  • Configurable testing worksheets for manually performed tests

  • Users can now reset transfer flags at will

  • Increased efficiency of client reporting methods

  • Animated icon indicating transfer progress

  • Enhanced Manual Entry of ABO/Rh test results

  • Improvements to the fax transfer method for more flexibility and increased efficiency

  • Additional system reports to aid in data retrieval and analysis

“This revision was released as part of IDM’s ongoing support of our software products, which is achieved by way of customer feedback, user meetings and our commitment to industry needs, states Susan McBride, Director, Business Development for IDM.
