Our growing environmental laboratory is looking for a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) administrator to oversee the maintenance and improvement of our Omega LIMS by Khemia and related applications. This is a full time position with excellent benefits including Medical, Dental, Vision, Life and Long Term Disability insurance, 401K, a generous Paid Time Off (PTO) policy and company breakfast provided every Friday. Salary is commensurate with experience. Work in a state-of-the-art laboratory facility equipped with locker rooms/showers and located on the scenic Fox River adjacent to jogging/walking/biking trails and less than one mile from Metra station.
Job Description:
- Oversees and directs operation of the LIMS in the laboratory and all computer applications that interface and interact with the LIMS.
- Assures that the LIMS is correctly used by the laboratory personnel.
- Identifies and develops projects and programming requirements and works and coordinates with the LIMS vendor, IT vendor and outside contractors.
- Develops, modifies and maintains forms and interfaces for data entry into and out of LIMS.
- Creates specific Access reports and Electronic Data Deliverables (EDDs).
- Builds custom queries and VB scripts.
- Formulates and defines scope of work for major upgrades to LIMS through research and fact finding combined with an understanding of applicable systems and laboratory requirements.
- Initiates, monitors and oversees contracts for LIMS programming or upgrades.
- Provides training to new and current employees as needed.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree (computer science or physical science preferred)
- Minimum 2 years working with LIMS or similar IS
- Advanced Microsoft Access and query building
- Visual Basic/Access programming
- SQL server experience
- Information systems and database administration
- Microsoft Office with emphasis on Microsoft Excel
- Adobe Acrobat
