Instrument Interface Engineer
Job Purpose:
This is a position in the Global Laboratory IT Center of Excellence based in USA. The position builds and maintains automated interfaces between scientific instruments and laboratory Support IT applications and systems for the normal functioning of the lab operations globally.
Investigate and recommend new software solutions for existing or proposed processes. Evaluate and implement new functionality in lab systems and support on-going effective utilization of applications.
Job Duties
- Identify opportunities for improving workflow and data transfer automation in laboratory applications and systems. Gather and document requirements, and document system functions to meet business needs and globally implementable in Merieux environment.
- Provide production support and development of LIMS functionality which may include configuration, administration, upgrades/patches, system documentation, user support, custom reports, bug fixes, enhancements, and training.
- Develop interfaces from LIMS to scientific instruments and troubleshoots any issues.
- Configure and support LIMS analysis, test lists and other LIMS static data as needed.
- Meet with users to plan the implementation of LIMS enhancements and assess impact to operations and necessary workflow changes.
- Work directly with laboratory equipment manufacturers to understand and maintain LIMS/equipment interfaces.
- Be part of the weekly support on call rotation.
Knowledge & Skills
- The incumbent should have a basic knowledge of system development life cycle (SDLC)
- A bachelor’s degree in computer science / bio-engineering
- Experience in building SQL queries, database programming, optimization and fine tuning is preferred.
- Familiarity with laboratory standard scientific instruments and software will be a plus
- Familiarity with LIMS or LIS software will be a plus
