Johns Hopkins University – Applied Physics Laboratory Selects EKM and Surety for Electronic Lab Notebook Pilot

University Applied Physics Lab has selected their combined electronic lab notebook solution for a pilot system that will capture, track and validate laboratory research electronically. EKM’s LABTrack(TM) Enterprise Edition Electronic Lab Notebook and Surety’s AbsoluteProof(SM) data integrity service will enable researchers at the Applied Physics Laboratory to capture critical
research data and protect it indefinitely. The electronic notebook system will augment and eventually replace the researchers’ traditional paper lab notebooks.

LABTrack Enterprise Edition, introduced in the first quarter of 2004 by San Diego-based EKM, is the first electronic lab notebook product based on a word processor platform and allows researchers at the Applied Physics Laboratory to format electronic pages that are identical to paper-based notebooks. LABTrack Enterprise Edition works in conjunction with relational
databases such as, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle and DB2, to provide the added functionality of data correlation. Researchers can embed drawings, spreadsheets, SOPs, instrument data files and more onto LABTrack’s pages thereby fully documenting experiments and procedures.
