Laboratory Metrologist
Position Summary
The Laboratory Metrologist reports to the Metrology Group Leader.
Catalent is looking to add a Metrology Laboratory Associate to their Metrology Group. Under limited supervision this candidate will set and schedule metrology activities and work closely with vendors and the analytical services group on timelines for scheduling repairs, calibrations, and PMs.
Catalent in Somerset, NJ is home to oral solid dose manufacturing operations as part of the Advanced Delivery Technology (ADT) business unit. On site we have our state-of-the-art laboratory, clinical, and commercial manufacturing plant for oral dose forms in addition to being the Catalent Center of Excellence for handling Highly Potent Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients.
The Role
•Schedules and Coordinates routine calibrations, PM, and repairs
•Reviews and Approves Calibration Documents
•Updates, Reviews, and Approves Trackwise Investigations
•Writes, Reviews, and Approves SOPs
•Updates Visual Boards daily and Maintains Lab Metrology Spreadsheet
•Manages vendor activities
•Manages the new instrument on-boarding process (CapEx, IQ/OQ/PQ, etc.)
•Calibrate instruments or assist others in troubleshooting
•Conducts training for vendors and end users
Requirements:
The Candidate
•BS in Chemistry or other related sciences, and/or equivalent of 3-6 years experience within a similar background with similar responsibilities; strong background in equipment maintenance and calibrations within pharmaceutical industry.
•Experience: 2-4 years experience within a GLP/GMP Environment preferred; Good understanding of Instrumentation and the maintenance thereof. Excellent troubleshooting and problem resolution skills.
•Preferred familiarity with GLP/GMP regulations and guidelines
Physical Requirements:
•On an average 8 hour day this position requires the ability to walk, sit and stand, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms at or above shoulder height and below waist height, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk and hear, smell and lift up to 40 pounds.
•Handling the instrument shipping and receiving needs for the group, which could require packing, boxing, labeling, and transporting packages of instruments for shipment.
•Ability to work, wearing Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), such as, laboratory eye glasses, respirator, etc.
•Ability to work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines. Be accessible to laboratory and pilot plant area(s) and office staff and to use required office equipment. Specific vision requirements include reading of written documents and use of computer monitor screen frequently. Individual may be required to lift 10-15 pounds.
