Lead Metrologist

Position Summary

The Lead Metrologist is responsible for assuring that all calibrations and preventative maintenance activities are completed accurately and in a timely manner following all Catalent procedures and work instructions. The Lead Metrologist is expected to take a proactive role in supporting the departments calibration & preventative maintenance needs to include the carrying out of calibrations and preventative maintenance as needed, scheduling, technical training, and group leadership.

JOB TITLE REPORTS: Calibration Manager 
The Lead Metrologists function of the Metrology group is the calibration and repair of Measurement and Test Equipment, (M&TE). Technicians are primarily responsible for the calibration and repair of M&TE parameters such as electrical/electronic, temperature, physical, dimensional, humidity, frequency, and analytical measurements. These functions are performed using traceable reference standards, following work order instructions, and adhering strictly to cGMP requirements.  

Requirements: 

The Role (daily responsibilities)

•Ensures all equipment calibrations and preventative maintenance are performed according to schedule.
•Identify & verify all M&TE out-of-tolerance conditions and perform correction action via adjustment, or replacement, and documenting the deviation.
•Assists in review of calibration and preventative maintenance records.
•Revises/creates MWOs for M&TE that needs calibrated or preventative maintenance to ensure the instructions reflect what needs to be done according to manufacturers procedures or agreed in-house calibration methodology.
•Oversees allocation of manpower assets for unscheduled calibrations and preventative maintenance requests.
•Acts as a training resource to technicians on M&TE based on sound Metrological practices. 
The Candidate (requirements)

•Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Science, or related field, or attended training for Metrology practices, such as DOD PMEL or TMDE training verified by DD Form 214
•5-7 years of cumulative work experience in metrology or an instrumentation intense position
•2-3 years experience in planning and scheduling calibration and maintenance activities
•Experience in Leading, instructing, and training technicians
•Preventative maintenance experience a plus
