Leica Biosystems Granted ISO/IEC 27001:2013 Certification for Aperio ePathology Solutions

VISTA, California, January 29, 2015 /PRNewswire/ —

Leica Biosystems, a global leader in automation and workflow solutions for anatomic pathology, announces its ISO/IEC 27001:2013, Information Security Management System certification, with the initial scope including the Aperio ePathAccessâ„¢ cloud-based image sharing platform.

The ISO 27001 certification, awarded by BSI (The British Standards Institution), is an internationally recognized standard for information security.  Aperio ePathAccess allows pathologists to securely and quickly upload patient case information and associated digital pathology images to the cloud-based software for rapid consultation, collaboration, and quality assurance. This helps to reduce turnaround time and eliminate the logistical cost and hassle of shipping glass slides.

“Aperio ePathAccess leverages the power of the cloud to provide instant access for external subspecialist consultations and reviews when patients need it most,” said Puneet Sarin, vice president and general manager, Leica Biosystems, Pathology Imaging. “Protecting patient data is one of our key priorities. The ISO 27001 certification reflects the high level of security provided by Aperio ePathAccess.”
