LIMS Analyst/Developer – NIH – RTP, NC

TASKS. The contractor shall:

  • Serve as the point of contact and Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) champion for NIEHS LIMS development and operations; work with diverse stakeholders to ensure transparent communication of ongoing initiatives and activities; seek continuous feedback from stakeholders to understand and relate needs.
  • Provide support for custom developed LIMS systems; identify, evaluate and provide custom LIMS development and management solutions for diverse needs.
  • Examine, evaluate, test and provide critical assessment of new and emerging LIMS systems that may provide solutions for NIEHS. 
  • Lead the prioritization, implementation and support for commercial and cloud-hosted LIMS solutions.
  • Lead the configuration of new commercial and cloud-hosted LIMS services, tools and utilities.
  • Provide technical guidance and assistance supporting LIMS practices and technologies.
  • Work with data scientists to define, prioritize and implement metadata standards across NIEHS LIMS systems.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and support for interoperability of NIEHS LIMS systems internally and with systems used for analytics or to support research or administrative goals.
  • Conduct reporting to support prioritization and planning; prepare reports and offer solutions supporting ongoing needs assessment and strategic planning related to LIMS prioritization, development and operations.
  • Conduct performance reporting to support LIMS prioritization, budget advocacy and development planning.
  • Train stakeholders in optimization and use of LIMS system.
  • Attend group meetings with scientists and diverse technology specialists; present findings to individuals and groups.

 

REQUIREMENTS. The contractor must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Science, Computer Science, Information Science, Library Science, Bioinformatics, Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of related experience in LIMS development and operations including demonstrated leadership of integrated LIMS planning.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading the configuration, customization, and extension of LIMS systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to assertively manage and execute LIMS project management including successful application of a LIMS project life cycle.
  • Demonstrated fluency working in Windows and Linux environments and broad familiarity working in a scientific computing environment.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communications skills supporting teams engaged in large and diverse scientific and computational efforts.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
