LIMS Implementations – Important Lessons Learned

Gain insight into past LIMS implementation projects to learn from their
failures and successes so that your deployment can be done right, the first time.

Course Overview

LIMS implementation projects can be highly complex IT projects and, therefore, carry the same risks to success as other projects (and not just IT projects). Wouldn’t it be great to have inside knowledge on how other projects have gone, learn from their mistakes, and capitalize on their successes?

This course will discuss and explore why some LIMS implementation projects fail and provide tips on how to avoid failure. These lessons learned will be shared from past projects by a senior informatics consultant who has been in the industry for more than 34 years.

This course covers:

  • Why some projects fail, and some succeed
  • Why scope definition is important
  • What and why you should document
  • Setting goals
  • Building the right team

By the end of this course, you will have the knowledge and tools to foresee and avoid implementation pitfalls and have additional project insight for where you can excel in other areas.

This course includes a final exam to test your understanding of the concepts provided.  All passing grades of 80% or higher will receive a certificate of completion. You will have the ability to re-take the exam.

Requirements:

This course is designed for stakeholders, business analysts, and other interested project members. It’s recommended that you have some background in LIMS or other IT implementation projects.  You don’t need to be a Project, IT, or Lab Manager to benefit as this course is meant to cross all spectrums of people involved in an implementation project.
