LIMS Programmer-Analyst Direct Hire Opening in San Diego (Sorrento Valley)

This Biotech Company currently uses STARLIMS and they’re looking for somebody with 2+ years LIMS experience to come in, run with it and own the installation, customization and deployment of a new LIMS system which will be used across the companies facilities in San Diego, Germany and Japan. After 1-2 years you will be the in-house expert on the system for the company. There will be a small team of developers working around you. Position includes an 8%-10% annual Bonus as well as 100% of the base medical plan paid for employee and a 401k that matches 100% up to 3% and 50% up to 5%.

 

Key Requirements

  • Must Have a minimum of 2 years’ experience working/developing a LIMS system.
  • Must Have experience in SQL databases and retrieving data out of them using Crystal Reports
  • Must Have understanding of a clinically regulated environment
  • Must Have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree

 

The LIMS Programmer Analyst will be responsible for the implementation, validation, and maintenance of the company’s commercial Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). The candidate will be expected to work closely with the Company’s scientific and LIMS Development teams to effectively translate the laboratory’s physical workflows into a comprehensive LIMS system.

The LIMS Programmer Analyst will also provide programming support for the development of new LIMS features and will be responsible for all system upgrades, patches, and validations as well as documentation, user training, custom reporting, and help desk support for LIMS users.

The LIMS Programmer Analyst ensures the efficient operation of the Company's clinical laboratory through the development and customization of LIMS modules and reports to support the laboratory’s workflow and reporting requirements.

 

Essential Functions/Job Responsibilities

  • Works closely with LIMS project stakeholder and vendors on requirements specifications and implementation of customizations in support of Phase 1 and subsequent phase launches at each of the Company’s global clinical laboratories, as appropriate.
  • Prepares custom reports and dashboards for various user levels such as executive management, lab management, and lab scientists using Crystal Reports.
  • Writes protocols and executes validations of LIMS system updates and upgrades, including writing test scripts.
  • Develops and maintains user training program for LIMS system.
  • Cooperates and respectfully communicates with external and internal customers.

 

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

  • Comfortable with using commercial reporting tools such as Crystal Reports to develop custom reports for various types of users.
  • Prior experience with an issue tracking system (Redmine, Bugzilla, etc.)
  • Knowledge of software development cycle and/or software design control requirements is
  • Database Administration and IT Support experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) platforms would be beneficial.
  • The successful candidate must be a self-starter who is able to work effectively with minimal direct supervision.
