LimsLinkCDS Interfaces Varian’s Galaxie Chromatography Data System with any LIMS

GUELPH, Canada and PALO ALTO CA, April 14, 2004 – Labtronics Inc. and Varian, Inc. (NASDAQ: VARI) announced a new LimsLinkCDS interface for the Varian Galaxie(TM) Chromatography Data System, which provides Galaxie users with a direct and transparent connection with any LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System). With the new interface, users can easily transfer information between the Galaxie Chromatography Data System (CDS) and the LIMS system used by their organization.

LimsLinkCDS adds new menu items to the Galaxie data system that allow the user to access the LIMS without having to leave the chromatography data system (CDS) and authorized CDS users have access to the menu items without having to logon separately to use the LIMS interface.

Configuration of the LimsLinkCDS – Galaxie interface is quick and easy using drop-down menus and check-boxes that use Galaxie terminology. LimsLinkCDS uses methods to store configurations allowing each analyst or group of analysts to use different pre-configured methods.

LIMS worklists can be selected from directly within Galaxie. The analyst can view and edit the worklist to ensure it is complete and accurate before it is automatically expanded to include standards, check samples and replicates. LimsLinkCDS includes macros that can be used to automatically create a sequence name, RunName (prefix) and Run ID (suffix). The completed sequence is automatically stored in the directory specified by the Galaxie Project that the analyst has selected.

Varian, Inc.’s Galaxie Chromatography Data System is an intuitive, easy-to use-software platform that controls GC and LC instruments from a variety of vendors.  Galaxie’s unique architecture readily expands from a single workstation to an enterprise-wide network controlling hundreds of instruments.
