M. D. Anderson Cancer Center Streamlines Paperwork with EE-LIMS from Stone Bond Technologies
Stone Bond Technologies, LP announced that The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center has purchased its EE-LIMS(TM) product to upgrade the existing paper-based workflow at one of their shared resource facilities to a fully automated Laboratory Request Management System.
The Microarray Core Facility, a shared resource center at M. D. Anderson, performs a wide variety of DNA and mRNA analyses for researchers working on problems ranging from identifying genetic variations associated with disease to discovering new drug targets. When performing these analyses, EE-LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) will give Microarray Core Facility researchers, administrators and lab technicians the ability to query, analyze and manage technical data from sample submission to delivery of analysis results. At the same time, EE-LIMS will handle billing and other administrative data flow as part of a single, integrated system.
“Our goal is to improve the timeliness and accuracy of both technical and administrative data in the lab,” said Dr. Mini Kapoor, Assistant Professor and Microarray Core Facility Manager at M. D. Anderson. “Achieving these goals is a challenge because any solution to this problem must integrate many different scientific and administrative computer applications and must do so at an affordable cost.”
“As part of the Enterprise Enabler(TM) family of system integration products, EE-LIMS is out-of-the-box software so it’s fast and inexpensive to install. This means that even labs with complex work flows and many diverse applications, such as the M. D. Anderson Microarray Core Facility, can afford to install EE-LIMS,” said Pamela Szabo, CIO of Stone Bond.
