Maplesoft(TM) Introduces Maple(TM) Toolbox For MATLAB(R)

Maplesoft(TM), the leading provider of high-performance software tools for engineering, science and mathematics, announced today a new toolbox that enables MATLAB(R) users to tap the full power of Maple 10. The Maple(TM) Toolbox for MATLAB(R) combines the best of both symbolic and numeric worlds for developing mathematical solutions and performing in-depth analysis of the results.

The Maple Toolbox for MATLAB consists of two components, Maple 10 – the most powerful and intuitive tool for solving complex mathematical problems and creating rich, executable technical documents – and the Maple-MATLAB Connector. The Maple-MATLAB Connector is an add-on to Maple 10 that provides a two-way link between Maple and MATLAB, enabling users to define variables in either environment and use them in the other.

“The Maple Toolbox for MATLAB features two of the world’s best mathematical products working together to solve engineering problems,” said Maplesoft CEO Jim Cooper. “The Toolbox will benefit companies involved in the design and development of engineering systems for the automotive, aerospace, biomedical, chemical processes and robotics markets, and engineering schools that use both MATLAB and Maple.”

The Maple Toolbox for MATLAB, which is up to 50 times faster than MATLAB’s Extended Symbolic Math Toolbox, features an interactive technical document interface with an intuitive 2D equation editor for typeset-quality mathematical presentation. In addition to access to Maple’s powerful math engine, the Toolbox includes statistics, optimization, enhanced graphics, scientific constants, units, tolerances and code generation to five languages: C, FORTAN, Visual Basic, Java and MATLAB. Finally, it includes access to over 50 interactive assistants and tutors to aid rapid development of solutions.

Availability and Pricing

A public beta version of the Maple-MATLAB Connector is currently available at: http://www.maplesoft.com/products/maplematlab. A final shipping version of the Connector and the complete Maple Toolbox for MATLAB will be released in August. Single user licenses of the complete Toolbox, which includes both Maple 10 and the Maple-MATLAB Connector, will cost US $2,195.00. Volume, government and academic discounts will apply. The Maple Toolbox for MATLAB will be available directly from the Maplesoft Web Store at http://webstore.maplesoft.com or via Maplesoft Sales at 1-800-267-6583. Outside of the US & Canada, the Toolbox will be available from Maplesoft’s reseller partners. A list of partners is available online at http://www.maplesoft.com/contact/international/index.aspx.
