Summary – Medical Lab Scientist Lead

Leads team members in assigned area of function by demonstrating and providing advanced knowledge of job responsibilities

 

Job Duties

 

  • Verifies analytic accuracy, precision, sensitivity and references ranges for test methods and instruments. Performs quality control testing, instrument maintenance and troubleshooting. Participates in the development of new testing procedures.
  • Provides monitoring, coaching and evaluation of team members' performance, especially in the areas of productivity and quality management. Assists with coordinating services, prioritizing assignments and workflow, and promoting situational decision-making/problem solving.
  • Performs the job responsibilities of a medical technologist or medical laboratory scientist.  Takes responsibility for, or provides guidance to team members on the handling of complex or novel issues.  Acts as supervisor in their absence.

 

Requirements                  

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.  Graduate of an accredited Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist Program
  • Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) by the American Medical Technologists (AMT) or as a Medical Lab Scientist by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or categorical ASCP certification in a laboratory specialty/subspecialty as applicable to job responsibilities.
  • 2 years related experience.

 

Preferred

 

  • Generalist Experience, including Blood Bank, Micro, Hematology and Chemistry
  • Leadership and/or supervisory experience preferred
