New NI PCI Data Acquisition Device Ideal for OEMs and Volume Customers
National Instruments today announced a new PCI plug-in data acquisition (DAQ) device, the NI PCI-6010, which is ideal for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) needing to get their products to market faster and at lower costs. Engineers can take advantage of the device’s standard 37-pin D-Sub connector for I/O channel access to create custom connectivity solutions with low-cost, commonly available parts and cables. In addition, quantity packages are available for OEMs and other customers needing multiple units, with standard pricing 40 percent lower than previous lowest-priced PCI DAQ devices from NI. The PCI-6010 extends National Instruments B Series multifunction DAQ devices to offer 16 channels of analog input with 16-bit resolution and 200 kS/s sampling rate. The board also includes ±42 V of overvoltage protection on analog inputs, as well as two analog output channels, 10 digital lines and two counter/timers. For I/O connectivity, the standard 37-pin D-Sub connector simplifies custom connectivity and is compatible with low-cost NI standard cables and connectors. The PCI-6010 ships with the full suite of NI measurement services software, including tools and drivers for connecting virtual instrumentation software with NI measurement and control hardware. NI measurement services software, built around NI-DAQmx driver software, includes intuitive application programming interfaces, configuration tools, rapid I/O assistants and professional tools to help engineers reduce system setup and configuration time. National Instruments DAQ products also work with application software including NI LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, SignalExpress and Measurement Studio for Visual Basic, C++ and .NET. For applications requiring increased performance and accuracy, NI also offers a full line of M Series DAQ devices that includes options for high-speed needs (16-bit, 1.25 MS/s), high-accuracy needs (18-bit, 625 kS/s) and low-cost needs (16-bit, 250 kS/s). M Series features such as new NI-MCal technology and the NI-STC 2 system controller chip deliver more I/O, performance and value.
