Northwest Analytical Launches Food Industry Initiative

Northwest Analytical, Inc. (NWA), the leading provider of statistical process control (SPC) software, today announced an initiative to meet the growing needs in the food industry for advanced Statistical Process Control (SPC) products that provide manufacturers with analytic capabilities that help them to understand and improve their processes, resulting in increased yield and reduced costs.

“The food industry is faced with both regulatory and competitive pressures that make SPC especially important,” said Clifford Yee, CEO of Northwest Analytical. “We have a substantial installed base in the food industry and want to be able to work with both current and new customers to better understand and respond to their quality and process management needs.”

SPC is fundamental to understanding process capabilities and identifying improvement opportunities. Today’s need for manufacturing analytics goes beyond the analysis of quality data. It must incorporate critical information from the process and other points throughout the supply chain. Applying proven statistical techniques and role-based visualization enables operators and managers to understand their processes in a more predictive fashion and avoid risks or excess costs before they happen.

The Northwest Analytical Quality Suite of SPC products is designed to provide all levels of the organization the information needed to address crucial concerns including HACCP to meet safety and regulatory requirements. These analytics also address critical process applications such as fill weight to reduce operating expenses.

Through this initiative, the company will apply dedicated sales, services, and support resources to understanding and meeting the specific SPC and manufacturing analytics needs of each customer. The company’s industry specialists and its network of system integrators will work with customers to identify their needs and apply a standards-based systems approach to integrating data from disparate manufacturing, laboratory, and enterprise systems, and establishing a flexible analytics framework that can grow and adapt as needs and environments change.

The company has added industry veteran, Marlene Eeg, to manage this new initiative.  Marlene has over 20 years experience in systems for manufacturing processes, with specific expertise in food production and packaging applications, from ERP to factory floor automation.
