Norwegian hormone laboratory chose Software Point’s system

The Hormone Laboratory Aker University Hospital in Oslo, Norway, has chosen Sapphire Clinical LIMS as its new laboratory information management system. Vendor of the system is Software Point. The solution will support the analysis of hormones and hormone metabolites carried out by the laboratory’s 70 employees. The aim is to better meet the specific analytical needs of the Hormone Laboratory not only today but also in the future.

Project Manager Mette Enger Helgesen from the Hormone Laboratory says that the choice of the Sapphire Clinical LIMS was based on the solution’s advanced functionality, high flexibility and the way the solution was able to solve the Hormone Laboratory’s specific needs.

Sapphire Clinical LIMS is a browser-based and easily modifiable solution. Both the functionality and the layout of the solution can be adjusted, without programming, based on the laboratory’s unique requirements. According to Helgesen, the possibility to modify the Sapphire Clinical LIMS even by the laboratory’s own experts, and still be able to upgrade it as new versions are released was a major advantage in comparison with other solutions. Software Point’s good support and the modern Sapphire technology were also considered as advantages.

Sapphire Clinical LIMS has been developed as part of the future healthcare technology program of Tekes, a Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation.

The Hormone Laboratory, Aker University Hospital was founded in 1959 as a laboratory specialized in the measurement of hormones and hormone metabolites.
