Open Transplant powered by SoftHLA®

SCC Soft Computer’s SoftHLA is an immunogenetics information management system for the diagnostic genetics laboratory – providing clinical and laboratory information management functionality related to transplantation workups for solid organ and stem cell/bone transplantation, along with transfusion support and other clinical purposes. The system provides a dynamic tool for immunogenetics laboratories by providing strong database support for information analysis and management. These enhanced functionalities of SoftHLA allow for new concepts such as Open Transplant to be possible.

Powered by SCC’s SoftHLA module, we introduce the concept Open Transplant, a collaborative workspace that will enable simultaneously running multiple epitope matching algorithms to perform transplant risk assessment and linking to outcome data. Open Transplant will allow for the generation of a virtual crossmatch using multiple tools in parallel and allow creating of user friendly reports.

Continuous updates of cohort data flowing from many transplant centers would allow a real time analysis of the risk of transplantation in an unprecedented way. The workspace may be used for validation of new algorithms that are developed by the transplant community.

Open transplant will allow clinician and scientific teams access to a collaborative workspace to determine transplant risk, pre and post-transplant. The collaborative space will allow for improved risk assessment by leverage of dataset outside of the local transplant center. Survival analysis will be performed based on uploaded research and patient cohorts and will provide teams with insight into a transplant event in the context of larger survival data sets.

Importantly, the data collected in the portal could be used to perform a large-scale population analysis and appropriate statistical tools would allow estimate of the time needed to find a better match, and thus could influence the decision on transplantation, increase the chance of long-term survival of the transplant, improve the functioning of the entire transplantation network and improve the rules of allocation of organs.

The enhanced functionality of SoftHLA makes it possible for concepts such as Open Transplant, providing users an indispensable information assessment application to track patient groups for workups in transplantation and other immunogenetics studies. With its robust and flexible architecture, SoftHLA meets users’ needs in various endeavors and as a result clinicians have come to rely on the broad functionality and in-depth capabilities that are unique to SoftHLA.
