Optive Research and Daylight Announce Partnership for Integrated Life Science Informatics

Optive Research, Inc., an innovative software company providing solutions for computer-assisted molecular discovery, and Daylight Chemical Information Systems, Inc., a leading provider of software for chemical information management, announced a broad strategic partnership today. This new partnership promotes more effective chemical discovery processes, enabling life science researchers to more easily access and analyze chemical information.

In response to customer requests, the focus of the comprehensive partnership is to provide enhanced integration and optimization between Optive’s Discovery Engines and Benchware(TM) software products and the Daylight DayCart(R) and related toolkits. Daylight is now a strategic partner in the Optive Research alliances program and DayCart will become a supported chemical information database platform for Optive’s suite of discovery informatics products.

“We are delighted with the first example of the collaboration recently announced by Optive Research and Daylight,” said Dr. Uta Lessel, Senior Research Scientist Chemoinformatics for Boehringer Ingelheim in Biberach an der RiB, Germany. “We use both DiverseSolutions and Daylight fingerprints to guide decisions regarding our compound acquisitions.”

The first integrated product now generally available as a result of the collaboration is the popular DiverseSolutions(TM) software package from Optive Research, which now leverages the Daylight Fingerprint Toolkit for generating Daylight fingerprints. Although best known for applications based on Optive’s powerful “BCUT” descriptors, DiverseSolutions (DVS) also offers unique fingerprint-based functionality. Integration with the Daylight Fingerprint Toolkit now makes it easier for DVS-users to perform fingerprint-based subset selection, lead follow-up, and other tasks which contribute to the drug discovery process.

“This is a partnership driven by the needs of our joint customers,” said Yosef Taitz, CEO of Daylight CIS. “The combination of Optive’s innovative software for computer-assisted drug discovery with Daylight’s leading solutions for chemical information management provides seamless information exchange and enhanced functionality in our products. We look forward to the ongoing benefit of working with Optive to deliver other complementary products benefiting our mutual customer base.”

Dr. Robert Pearlman, Chairman and Chief Scientific Officer of Optive Research added, “Daylight and Optive share a mutual respect and commitment to advancing the state of the art regarding software for molecular discovery. We also share a vision that discovery informatics solutions must be better integrated with laboratory informatics and chemical information management systems to enable more effective and timely decision making, thereby improving the odds for success in discovery research. We are pleased that, through our partnership with Daylight, we are now providing our customers with the integrated products to realize this vision today.”
