Opus Healthcare Solutions Debuts New Lab Information System With Smart Phone Reporting Capability

AUSTIN, Texas, July 21 /PRNewswire/ — Opus Healthcare Solutions, Inc. (http://www.opushealthcare.com/), a leading national provider of clinical information systems, has introduced the latest version of its OpusLaboratorySuite(R) which includes remote reporting, allowing clinicians to view results on a smart phone or PDA via a cell phone network or hospital Wi-Fi connection.

The new system will be demonstrated at the American Association for Clinical Chemistry (AACC) Clinical Lab Expo on July 27.

“The smart phone capability enables clinicians to quickly scroll through results and view data from a variety of screens or information sets instead of having to wait for a static document sent by fax or email,” said Fred Beck, President, Opus Healthcare Solutions.

The OpusLaboratorySuite(R) can be integrated with most major hospital information systems, and is available on an installed or ASP basis. Some of the new system’s features include rule-based reporting, quality control prompts and call management. It provides integrated data export to Microsoft Office(TM) as well.

By providing a single database solution, the OpusLaboratorySuite(R) is both elegant and scalable, combining high performance with flexibility. Each of the disciplinary modules of the OpusLaboratorySuite(R) is seamlessly integrated for enhanced data sharing and patient reporting. The modules include:

    — OpusMicro, Clinical Microbiology system;
    — OpusAP, Anatomic Pathology system;
    — OpusMReport, Management Reporting system with data mining utility.

The new LIS is fully integrated with the OpusClinicalSuite(R) series of Web-based products which include systems for clinical documentation, order management, computerized physician order entry, medication administration and Web portals for remote physician access. Opus systems use an integrated HL7/XML interface engine to collect disparate clinical data from other systems in a hospital or clinic. This provides a single point-of-access for clinicians to retrieve all patient information, rather than having to jump between different applications or access points.

Based in Austin, TX, Opus Healthcare Solutions, Inc. has been providing laboratory information systems for over 21 years since its inception in 1987.
