Patient Care Technology Systems Announces New Release of Amelior EDTracker Passive Tracking Software

Patient Care Technology Systems (PCTS), a provider of advanced clinical information systems for high acuity departments, announces the general availability of the newest release of Amelior EDTracker(TM) passive tracking, version 3.0. PCTS will be demonstrating the latest software at HIMSS Annual Conference in Dallas on February 14-17 in exhibit # 347.

The new release features many new enhancements to support emergency departments seeking the most comprehensive patient and asset tracking functionality with minimal user data entry requirements. “Version 3.0 of Amelior EDTracker passive tracking supports additional time-sensitive workflow processes including family physician calls, consultation calls, and asset management,” according to Tony Marsico, vp of tracking solutions. “In addition, the system has enhanced integration abilities to include electronic inbound order status for EKG and medication orders in addition to existing capabilities for laboratory and radiology orders. Admit orders can be sent directly to computerized bed management systems and bed assignment data can be received.”

Amelior EDTracker passive tracking is the most widely implemented passive patient tracking system in U.S. emergency departments and has been in use since 2000. Unlike active tracking systems which can require manual data entry by staff to update the status of patient location and care, passive tracking uses badges worn by patients and staff to track the location and care status of patients and the location of medical equipment in real time with no data entry required. Clinicians and staff manage care utilizing customized electronic tracking boards that present information in map or spreadsheet views customized to their department needs.

In 2004, PCTS acquired Healthcare I.T. Inc., developers of the passive tracking software and are now integrating passive tracking with the Amelior ED(TM) patient care system, which supports caregivers in managing documentation, order management, medical error prevention and patient disposition.
