Petrobras Manager closes Rio Oil & Gas at the Chemtech stand

José de Figueiredo, Petrobras South/Southeast E&P Manager, took part in the award ceremony of the 1st National Chemtech/PHOENICS Challenge and the 1st Chemtech/ControlSoft Process Control Challenge on the last day of the Rio Oil & Gas 2006, the largest oil industry fair in South America.  The challenges were technological competitions among university students from all over Brazil.

“I’ve taken part in many editions of the Rio Oil & Gas show and the Chemtech Challenge was the most important event I’ve ever seen”, said Figueiredo. “Through this initiative Chemtech is qualifying professionals for the technological area and generating both jobs and income.  It is through knowledge and technology that you can make a difference”, he added.

The Chemtech CFO also took part in the award ceremony, as well as the commercial director, João Chachamovitz, and Jackie Silva, Chemtech sponsored Olympic beach-volleyball medalist.  “At a time when some people did not believe there was oil in Brazil, people like Jackie placed their bets in this country.  Petrobras and Chemtech are like Jackie: perseverance, grip, and dedication”, compared Figueiredo.

Daniel Moczydlower, Chemtech project manager in charge of organizing the challenges, congratulated all the participants: “These students have come here to feel what we feel in our every-day work in projects for companies like Petrobras and Petroquímica União”.  He also pointed out the fact that each participant represented the future of technology in our country, and as such has contributed for the development of Brazil and of the world.

Another highlight of the last day of the event was the draw of over 100 volleyballs which were autographed on the spot by Jackie Silva, who also posed for photos with many of the winners.  Over 300 people visited the Chemtech stand.

“Yesterday, Friday, we closed the sixth year of Chemtech’s participation in the Rio Oil & Gas show, and I can say that it was really outstanding”, declared Luiz Eduardo Rubião, Chemtech CEO.  And what Figueiredo said only proves that Chemtech is on the right path: “Chemtech values planning, and strives for its place in a competitive market. The company values people and that is a major difference”.

Throughout the Rio Oil & Gas show, Chemtech presented its solutions, promoted challenges, exhibited the FPSO BR P-57 model, organized the presentation of the Mangueira children’s drums band, and had the company of volleyball players Jackie Silva, Júlia Caldas and Bia Sodré.  Representatives of partner companies Fantoft and Berwanger were also present at the Chemtech stand. “Chemtech is a young and innovative company that has become a reference in oil & gas”, remarked Fernando Rendon, Berwanger business developer.
