PlanGraphics Lands $6.6 Million in New Projects for New York City DEP

PlanGraphics, Inc. has been awarded a $6-million project to map water mains for the New York City Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), as well as a $650,000 system procurement project for DEP. These projects add to the funded portion of the company’s contract vehicle with the City. Currently capped at $15.4 million, the contract vehicle was registered by the New York City Comptroller on Dec. 27, 2002. It covers a period of three years and has two optional one-year renewals that the City may exercise.

The water mains project includes mapping and a variety of related geographic information system (GIS), document imaging and training services. As prime contractor, PlanGraphics will lead a team of companies in registering New York City water-distribution maps to the city’s “NYCMAP” GIS base map. The team will also convert the water mains data from its outmoded GDS format into a current ArcGIS 8 Geodatabase format. Project tasks will include data modeling, water mains registration, project management, application development, scanning and indexing of more than 3 million water “tap cards” and training.

“The water main assignment is a very large, complex project, probably one of the most complex of its kind in the country,” said John C. Antenucci, PlanGraphics’ president. “We have spent months working with the City to reach agreement on the most efficient way to complete this critical job, and now we are prepared to move forward expeditiously.”

PlanGraphics will also assist DEP with systems infrastructure procurement, installation and configuration.
